This blog was started during the Olympics in Beijing 2008 soon after my camera went missing. It was meant to be primarily about the Olympic Games. Thank goodness I included “and More” in the title, aye? MORE major global events have happened in the first half of 2011 than I could have imagined.
How can anyone who has not only experienced more than ten Olympic Games, but lived in so many countries not care about ALL countries. When major events happen in our world, I get more excited than most people. Whether it is the twentieth anniversary of the removal of the Berlin Wall in ’09 or tweeting with people in Tahriir Square in ’11, I naturally find myself wanting to weave my excitement about these events into this blog. The world has become my home and I’ve morphed into a global citizen.
In July I will write about the reason I could not go to Russia and Korea in the 1980's and yet how the Olympics came to me.
Carole Wimberg Cadora's Olympic Journal of Beijing Olympics 2008, Athens 2004, Salt Lake City 2002, Sydney 2000, Atlanta 1996, Barcelona 1992, Los Angeles 1984, Montreal 1976, Munich 1972 and Mexico 1968 and...the olympic spirit. Weaving present and past, the blog gives different perspectives, working in broadcasting within the International Broadcasting Center yet includes the great fun of experiencing the games as an outsider with no credentials. (added later: Vancouver 2010, London 2012)
